Last winter, StubHub approached us to help them with an idea. They wanted to build a series of hyper-local sites to highlight events and culture in major urban markets: Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, etc. The pilot project for this initiative was a site for San Francisco. In addition to daily blog content featuring the work of SF’s best local music writers, we created a video series, “Through My Eyes.” Directed by Lauren Tabak, the series featured local artists taking viewers on a tour of their hometown, highlighting the various shops, venues, hikes, and cafes that made their city special.
In the clips below, Sandra Lawson-Ndu, the lead vocalist, percussionist and keyboardist for the quartet Bells Atlas, takes us on a tour of her native Oakland, illustrating why the city just a few miles away from San Francisco has a burgeoning arts and music scene that is, as she puts it: “dope, hip and wonderful.”
